Game-changing Validation Lab Helped C Kick Off a New Battery Plant
Background
In 2019, C, the world’s largest EV battery manufacturer, broke ground on C, its first battery cell manufacturing plant outside of China, located in Thuringia, Germany. With a total investment of 1.8 billion Euros, C aimed to begin commercial production by the end of 2022. To meet this ambitious timeline, it was critical for C to build a highly efficient validation lab to ensure battery quality, accelerate time to market, and reduce production costs.
Challenge
The C validation lab faced the challenge of validating their batteries for a wide range of local customers in Germany, including those in the EV, grid, and commercial application sectors. Each application had unique performance requirements, which necessitated a variety of test protocols and processes that differed from those used in China.
